DON'T
DESTROY
THIS

Inside this unique and historic building, the SWC Art Gallery has been bringing innovative exhibitions to the Southwestern College campus for the last six decades. This amazing structure, which has been inspiring the areas most creative minds, is now set to be destroyed by the College Administration under the current Facilities Master Plan.

INFO

SCHEDULED FOR DESTRUCTION

The SWC Art Gallery building is currently scheduled for demolition on the latest Facilities Master Plan (the document guiding construction projects on the Southwestern College campus).

How did we get here?

1968

Construction is complete on the SWC Art Gallery building

late 1970s

Stagflation and budget constraints leads to a policy of "deferred maintenance", delaying routine building upkeep and repairs indefinitely

1980s-2000s

lack of systematic maintenance and upgrades leaves the original campus buildings in disrepair

2013

Facilities Master Plan Vision 2025

concludes many of the original campus buildings have serious systems issues due to deferred maintenance policy and recommends demolishing and rebuilding as a cheaper alternative to repairs or adaptive re-use.

2015-2018

The Facilities Condition Survey and updated Facilities Master Plan secures the destruction of original campus buildings and outlines new building construction timelines with Bond-raised funds.

Nov. 2024

Prop SW passes providing Bond funds for the College to continue with the Facilities Master Plan Program and demolish building 88, (the SWC Art Gallery).

Don't let this small group of individuals make this decision about the future

of your Gallery Building without your input.
